A company without APIs is a company without agents

One part of this stage cannot be solved by writing: if the system only has a screen, the agent cannot reach it.

Mapping which systems have a programmatic interface and which do not is a half-hour exercise that often reorganizes the entire roadmap. A system without an API does not block the project, but it does block that specific process from moving up in autonomy. The cause is the software the company bought years ago, not AI.

MCP prevents this from becoming a web. One server per system, and any agent that speaks the protocol plugs into any of them. Replacing the registration system comes to mean replacing one server, instead of three agents.
